Modeling and Predicting the Machined Surface Roughness and Milling Power in Scot’s Pine Helical Milling Process

Helical milling with the advantages of stable machining process, a well-machined surface quality, etc., is an interest researchers and producers. Machined roughness (arithmetic mean deviation (Ra) maximum height assessed profile (Rz)) power consumption as two main characteristic parameters were studied chosen response factors to evaluate machinability Scots pine helical milling. Input variables included angle cutter, rotation speed shaft, depth Response methodology was applied for design experiments, data processing analysis, optimization parameters. The results showed that Ra Rz decreased increase in though increased Milling when slight downward trend rotational increased. quadratic models predict values Ra, Rz, due high R2 0.9895, 0.9905, 0.9885, respectively. plot predicted actual also indicated created had good predictability. optimized combination angle, speed, are 64°, 7500 r/min, 0.5 mm, effects input quantitative relation between revealed clearly. These achievements will be useful guiding selection achieve purposes improving processed quality saving consumption.
